A former town in Nitta County, southeastern Gunma Prefecture. Established as a town in 1990. Located to the southwest of Kiryu City. Located on the alluvial fan of the Watarase River, it has poor access to water, so irrigation water and reservoirs are used for greenhouse cultivation of vegetables and fruit. The Ryomo Line and Tobu Kiryu Line pass through the town, and the number of commuters to both Kiryu and Isesaki is increasing. Metal, machinery, and electrical equipment factories have also moved in. The Iwajuku ruins, northwest of Iwajuku Station, are Paleolithic ruins and are designated as a national historic site. In March 2006, it merged with Higashi Village, Seta County, and Omama Town, Yamada County, to become a city, Midori City. 18.61 km2 . Population: 27,216 (2003).
