A record of filial sons, virtuous women, loyal servants and extraordinary people in the Edo period. 50 volumes. In 1789 (Kansei 1), as part of the Kansei Reforms' public education measures, the shogunate ordered reports on commendations for good deeds from farmers and townspeople across the country since the early Edo period, and further reports in 1798, which were collected and edited at the Shoheizaka Gakumonsho and published as an official edition in 1801 (Kyowa 1). A total of 8,614 people are listed in the list, and the period during which commendations were given spans two centuries, from 1602 (Keicho 7) to 1798, but 81% of the total, or 6,985 people, were commended in the second half of the 18th century, from the Horeki era to the Kansei era.
