Next is the Amethyst Python P. amethistinus found in New Guinea and northern Australia, which can reach a maximum of 8.6m, but it is usually 3-6m long and has a relatively thin body. The next largest is the African Python P. sebae , found throughout Africa except the desert, with a total length of 4-7.5m, and the Indian Python P. molurus , found in India, Southeast Asia, and southern China, with a total length of 3-6m. Both species have beautiful markings and a thick body.
