A mountain in the northern part of the Hidaka Mountains in Hokkaido. It is 2,052 meters above sea level. It is the main peak of the Hidaka Mountains and the highest peak in Hokkaido excluding volcanoes. It is located on the border between Biratori Town and Niikappu Town, and is a hill-like mountain that protrudes above a plateau-like mountain range at an altitude of 1,500 to 1,800 meters. On the east and north sides of the summit are a group of cirques formed by glaciers in the Pleistocene, and glacial scuffs can be seen on the valley floor. The geology consists of gabbro and amphibolite from the Hidaka Metamorphic Belt. It is part of the Hidaka Mountains Erimo Quasi-National Park. 北海道日高山脈の北部にある山。標高 2052m。日高山脈の主峰で,火山を除く北海道の最高峰にあたる。平取町と新冠町の境に位置し,標高 1500~1800mの高原状の山地の上に突出する残丘状の山。山頂の東側と北側に更新世の氷河によって形成された圏谷(カール)群があり,谷底には氷河擦痕が認められる。地質は日高変成帯の斑糲岩(はんれいがん)や角閃岩からなる。日高山脈襟裳国定公園の一部。
