It is distinguished from the Harriotta raleighana , which is also a member of the Rhinochimaeridae family, by the lack of small cortical spines on either side of its sword-shaped snout and the smooth incisal edges of each tooth plate. In addition, because it is a rare species, very little is known about its ecology.
