Japanese: 甘利俊一 - あまりしゅんいち

1936－ A mathematical engineer from the late Showa to Heisei eras.
Born on January 3, 1936. Became a professor at the University of Tokyo in 1981. After retiring from the government, he became director of the RIKEN Brain Science Institute. He studied the mathematics of neural networks and proposed information geometry. He received the Japan Academy Prize in 1995 for his research into the basic theory of neural information processing. In 2012, he was named a Person of Cultural Merit. He was born in Tokyo and graduated from the University of Tokyo. His publications include "Biocomputer."

昭和11年1月3日生まれ。昭和56年東大教授となる。退官後,理化学研究所脳科学総合研究センターディレクター。神経回路網の数理を研究し,情報幾何学を提唱。神経情報処理の基礎理論の研究で,平成7年学士院賞。24年文化功労者。東京出身。東大卒。著作に「バイオコンピュータ」など。
