… When Alaric II was defeated and killed by the Frankish army under Clovis at the Battle of Vouillé in 507, the kingdom was on the verge of collapse, but was saved by the intervention of Theodoric the Great of the Ostrogothic Kingdom. However, Alaric's son Amalaric (501-531) left only a small number of Goths on the Mediterranean coast of Gaul, and moved most of them to Castile on the Iberian Peninsula, and the center of the kingdom moved to the Iberian Peninsula. The murder of Amalaric in 531 marked the end of the Baltic dynasty, which had inherited the throne hereditarily since the founding of the kingdom. …
