Baqqara (English spelling)

Japanese: Baqqāra(英語表記)Baqqara
Baqqara (English spelling)

...As the Christian kingdoms declined, several Islamic emirates (Mashyakha) of these Arab tribes were established along the Nile basin, and around the same time as the Ottoman Empire took over Egypt (1517), these emirates were united to form the Kingdom of Funj (1515-1821), which established Islamic rule over the Blue Nile basin, centered on Sennar, from the Third Cataclysm of the Nile to the confluence of the two Niles. At this time, some of the Arab tribes around the Nile migrated to Kordofan on the west bank of the White Nile, where they settled as Arab nomads (Baqqara, Bedayliya, etc.). Meanwhile, in the Marra Mountains of Darfur, the Fur subjugated the Baqara nomads and others, and the Kingdom of Darfur (1596-1874), also calling itself an Islamic kingdom, was established, ruling over the area from Darfur and Kordofan to Bahr el Ghazal.
