〘Noun〙 (From the abbreviation of Komitjet gosudarstvjennoj bjezopasnosti pri Sovjetje Ministrov SSSR) The secret police of the Soviet Union. Its official name was the Committee for State Security under the Council of Ministers of the USSR. In addition to domestic security activities, it was also involved in foreign intelligence activities. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, in January 1992, it became the Ministry of Security of the Russian Federation. It was abolished in 1993. 〘名〙 (Komitjet gosudarstvjennoj bjezopasnosti pri Sovjetje Ministrov SSSR の略語から) ソ連の秘密警察。正式名称は、ソ連邦閣僚会議付属国家保安委員会。国内治安活動のほか、対外諜報活動にも従事。ソ連消滅後の一九九二年一月、ロシア連邦保安省となる。九三年廃止。ロシア語読みではカーゲーベー。
