Tachibana [town] - Tachibana
A former town in Yame District, southern Fukuoka Prefecture. Occupying the lowlands of the middle reaches of the Yabe River and the northern slopes of the Chikuhi Mountains, agriculture is thriving, producing rice, fruit trees, vegetables, flowers, bamboo shoots, and the like, and is one of the prefecture's leading producers of mandarin oranges. There is also a canning factory. In February 2010, it was incorporated into Yame City along with Kurogi Town, Yabe Village, and Hoshino Village in Yame District. 86.64 km2 . Population 11,662 (2005).
