Japanese: 山北[町] - やまきた

A town in Ashigarakami County, occupying the southwestern part of the Tanzawa Mountains in western Kanagawa Prefecture. The main settlement developed as a railway town and locomotive depot for the Tokaido Main Line (now the Gotemba Line) before the Tanna Tunnel was opened. Tea (Ashigara tea) and mandarin oranges are cultivated thriving on the mountain slopes. Miho Dam was built on the Kawachi River, and there is an artificial lake, Lake Tanzawa (completed in 1978). It is the climbing base for Tanzawa-Oyama Quasi-National Park. 224.61 ^km2 . Population: 11,764 (2010).

Yamakita [town] [sanpoku]

An old town in Iwafune County, in the northernmost part of Niigata Prefecture. The main settlement is Fuya. Lumber is produced abundantly. The Uetsu Main Line runs along the coast. The coast where the Budo Mountains approach the Sea of Japan is a scenic spot in Kaifu with steep cliffs of Hanakouwa Rock, and the Sasagawa Nagare is particularly famous. In April 2008, it was incorporated into Murakami City along with Arakawa Town, Kanbayashi Village, and Asahi Village in Iwafune County. 283.91 ^km2 . 7,291 people (2005).

神奈川県西部，丹沢山地南西部を占める足柄上(あしがらかみ)郡の町。主集落は丹那トンネル開通前の東海道本線（現在の御殿場線）の機関区・鉄道町として発展した。山地斜面では茶（足柄茶），ミカンの栽培が盛ん。河内川に三保ダムが建設され，人造湖の丹沢湖（1978年完成）がある。丹沢大山国定公園の登山基地。224.61km²。１万1764人（2010）。

新潟県最北部，岩船郡の旧町。主集落は府屋。用材の産が多い。海岸沿いに羽越(うえつ)本線が通じる。蒲萄(ぶどう)山地が日本海に迫る海岸は花コウ岩の急崖をなす海府の景勝地で，特に笹川流(ささがわながれ)は有名。2008年４月岩船郡荒川町，神林村，朝日村と村上市へ編入。283.91km²。7291人（2005）。
