The Azumayu costume consists of a maki-tsui (a traditional Japanese robe), a tsui (a traditional Japanese crown), a kazashi (a traditional Japanese ornament with a cherry blossom, a yellow sedge, a pink dianthus, a chrysanthemum, etc.), a blue-printed robe with paulownia and bamboo and a pheasant design, and a nina-musubi (a traditional Japanese cord tied around the shoulders). The outer hakama (only for the dancer) is printed with a pheasant design on the bamboo. This is the so-called beijuyu costume. The Utagata wears plain white hakama with knee-joints.
