Years of birth: Years of birth and death unknown. A comic writer from the late Edo period. According to Mitamura Engyo's theory, he died on February 21, 1818 (March 27, 1818), at the age of 59. In the early years of the Kansei era (around 1789), he worked as a clerk for the Kuwaori magistrate Kishimoto and called himself Maeno Manshichiro, but later served the Hitotsubashi family and became a retainer. At the same time, he became a student of Santo Kyoden, and enjoyed kyoka and gekijyo. He gradually expanded from compiling and writing kyoka anthologies and rakugo books, and his most popular works are said to be the first and second parts of the reading book "Jiraiya Setsuba" (1806, July boards) and the humorous book "Akiyo Semono Manami Kyukancho" (1805-09). As usual, Takizawa Bakin wrote bad things about him in "Edo Sakusha Burui," but he also wrote a unique work, "Kokuji Shi Kaidai," published in Bunka 1 (1804), which showed how to write so-called kana poetry, so he should not be looked down upon so generally.
