Rain typhoon - Ame taifū
A slang term for a typhoon that causes relatively little damage from wind but much damage from rain. There is no strict definition. In general, typhoons in the rainy season and autumn cause more damage from rain than from wind. Typical examples of rain typhoons include the Kathleen Typhoon, which brought heavy rain to the Kanto and Tohoku regions on September 14-15, 1947, and caused unprecedented flooding in Tokyo and Saitama Prefecture by breaking the levees of the Tone River and Arakawa River, and the Kanogawa Typhoon, which brought heavy rain to the Tokai and Kanto regions on September 26-28, 1958, flooding the Kano River, killing more than 1,000 people in the Izu region, and causing major damage such as flooding and landslides in Kanagawa Prefecture and Tokyo.
