Ajigasawa Port - Ajigasawa Port

...Ajigasawa, the center of the area, is a town and village along Ajigasawa Bay, and developed as the official port of the Tsugaru Domain in the early modern period. It was the base of the westward shipping route, and most of the rice shipped to the Kami-Kami region of the Tsugaru Domain was shipped from Ajigasawa Port. A magistrate's office was established here, and it was the second busiest area after Hirosaki. After the Meiji period, the district office was also established here, but it declined with the development of land transportation centered on Aomori and Hirosaki.
