Ion Chromatography

A type of ion exchange chromatography. A method in which ion species are separated in an ion exchange column and the electrical conductivity is measured over time to separate and quantify the target ions. Since the eluent itself is electrically conductive, a background reduction device called a suppressor is used to lower the electrical conductivity of the eluent. Alternatively, an eluent with low electrical conductivity is used. In anion chromatography, it is effective for the analysis of Cl- ⁽ 0.03), _NO2- (0.04), ^{NO3- (} 0.06), _SO42- ( ^0.06 ), etc., while in cation chromatography, it is effective for the analysis of Na ⁺ (0.1), _NH4 ⁺ (0.1), K ⁺ (0.2), etc. ( _The numbers in parentheses are the detection limits in ppb).

イオン交換クロマトグラフィーの一種．イオン種をイオン交換カラムで分離し，その電気伝導度を経時的に測定することにより，目的イオンを分離・定量する手法．溶離液自身が電気伝導性をもつので，サプレッサーとよばれるバックグラウンド減少装置を用いて溶離液の電気伝導率を下げる方法．または電気伝導率の低い溶離液を用いる方法がとられる．陰イオンクロマトグラフィーでは Cl^－(0.03)，NO₂^－(0.04)，NO₃^－(0.06)，SO₄^2－(0.06)など，陽イオンクロマトグラフィーでは Na^＋(0.1)，NH₄^＋(0.1)，K^＋(0.2)などの分析に有効である((　)内は検出限度，ppb)．
