Shigenaga Asano - Asano Mochinaga

…Lord of Hiroshima Domain during the late Edo period and the Meiji Restoration. Born as the fifth son of Asano Nagatoshi, he was initially adopted by Nagayoshi, a branch of the Asano clan. However, in 1858 (Ansei 5), when Hiroshima Domain lord Yoshiteru died without an heir, he joined the main family and changed his name to Mochinaga the following year. He promoted reforms in the domain government by appointing Tsuji Masao and others as elders, and was also a mediator during the two Choshu expeditions and the restoration of imperial rule. In 1868, he changed his name to Naganori, and retired from service due to illness in 1869. He handed over the family headship to his adopted son Nagakoto and passed away in Tokyo. …

…幕末･維新期の広島藩主。浅野長懋（ながとし）の5子として生まれ，初め浅野氏内証分家長容の養子となるが，1858年(安政5)広島藩主慶熾（よしてる）が嗣子なく没したため，宗家に入り，翌年，茂長（もちなが）と改名。辻将曹らを年寄に登用して藩政改革を推進するとともに，両度の長州征伐や王政復古の際も調停役として功があった。68年長訓と改名，69年病気により致仕，養嗣子長勲（ながこと）に家督を譲り，東京に没した。…
