Japanese: 海外放送 - かいがいほうそう

Also known as international broadcasting. Broadcasting aimed at being received in foreign countries. Aimed at public relations activities and cultural exchange, shortwave is mainly used, but medium wave is often used in combination. In most countries around the world, it is carried out by special organizations directly managed by the government or funded by the government. Well-known stations include VOA, Beijing Radio, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), and United Nations Radio (UNR). In Japan, it began in 1935, and is currently run by NHK under the name Radio Japan with a government subsidy.
