Agri Decumates

Japanese: アグリ・デクマテス（英語表記）Agri Decumates

The ancient Roman name for the triangular region including the Black Forest in southwestern Germania and the adjacent upper reaches of the Rhine, Danube, and Main rivers. The Romans under the Flavian dynasty made it a Roman territory between 74 and 98 to facilitate Roman military contact between the Rhine and Danube. Until then it had been inhabited by the Helvetii and then the Suebi, but after that no coherent tribal community existed and it was settled by wandering Gauls. Around 268 the Romans were replaced by the Alemanni.
