Stone pot - Ishinabe

A pot- or kettle-shaped stone display utensil made from rocks such as talc, rhodium, mica schist, and asbestos. They are generally thick, several centimeters thick, and some have a rim-like protruding band around the neck like a kettle. The manufacturing site is in the Nishisonogi Peninsula area of ​​Nagasaki Prefecture, and most examples have been excavated in this area, but examples have also been excavated in Nagasaki, Saga, Fukuoka, and Kumamoto prefectures, as well as the Goto Islands, Iki, Tsushima, and the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. Stone pots are thought to have been made after the Yayoi culture and the Kofun period, but the upper and lower limits of their age are unknown, and they have also been found in the Kogoishi ruins at Mt. Kora (Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture).

滑石、ろう石、雲母片岩(うんもへんがん)、石綿などの岩石でつくった鍋形ないし釜(かま)形の石製什器(じゅうき)。一般に数センチメートルの厚みのある厚手のものが多く、口頸(こうけい)部に釜のように鍔(つば)状の突帯をめぐらすものもある。長崎県西彼杵(にしそのぎ)半島方面に製造址(し)があり、この地方に出土例がもっとも多いが、長崎、佐賀、福岡、熊本県や、五島列島、壱岐(いき)、対馬(つしま)、朝鮮半島南部にも出土例がある。石鍋は弥生(やよい)文化以降、古墳時代以後もつくられたと思われるが、年代の上限と下限は不明で、高良山(こうらさん)（福岡県久留米(くるめ)市）などの神籠石(こうごいし)遺跡内からも発見されている。
