...A castle located near Akutagawa-juku in Shimakami County (present-day Takatsuki City, Osaka Prefecture), a strategic location in the northeast of Settsu Province. The first-stage Akutagawa Castle (flat castle) is thought to have been the residence or castle of the Akutagawa clan, who were vassals of the Kamakura Shogunate and representative local lords from the Nanboku-cho period onwards, and the second-stage Akutagawa Castle (mountain castle) was built in the mountainous area behind it, commonly known as Miyoshiyama.
