When building a house, the most time-consuming part is the area around the water, such as the bathroom and kitchen. Kitchen units are one of the housing components that were created by applying industrialized techniques to this area, with the aim of prefabricating the sink and other equipment in a single unit in a factory and transporting it to the construction site for installation. There are various types, but wall-type units are the most common. In Japan, the prototype of the current kitchen was created around 1970 (Showa 45), and various ingenious features were added after that to create the convenient ready-made kitchen equipment we know today. The most familiar of these is the system kitchen, which also originated from the kitchen unit.
