Hook-tip moth

Japanese: カギバガ(鉤翅蛾) - カギバガ(英語表記)hook‐tip moth
Hook-tip moth
A general term for insects belonging to the Drepanidae family of the Lepidoptera order. They are found all over the world except South America, but there are many species in the tropical and subtropical regions of Asia. There are 30 species in Japan, including the silver-colored Drepanidae, the Yamato Drepanidae, the black-striped Drepanidae (illustration), the obikagiba, the turmeric Drepanidae, and the red-legged Drepanidae. Adults are medium-sized, and many species have sharp, sickle-shaped forewings, so both the Japanese and English names are derived from the shape of the forewings. Larvae lack caudal legs, but have four pairs of abdominal legs and a tail-like protrusion at the end of the tail.
