The United Nations has a Statistics Bureau to coordinate statistical activities in each country, and it unifies and coordinates the statistical concepts and classifications used in each country. It also requests reports on population, trade, national income, etc. from each country each year, compiles them, and publishes the Statistical Yearbook. The system of national accounts currently used in Japan is based on the system established by the United Nations.
