…In 1347 (Shohei 2, Sadawa 3), the Southern Court's Kusunoki Masayuki went on the offensive and defeated the Shogunate's Yamana Tokiuji and Hosokawa Akiuji in Kawachi and Settsu provinces, so Ashikaga Takauji sent his steward Takanori Moronao and others south. On January 5 of the following year, Moronao arrived at Shijo in Kawachi province, and to the east, on Iimoriyama, the White Flag Rebellion, led by the governor of Shimotsuke, set up camp. The Southern Court's opposing forces, led by Shijo Takasuke as their commander-in-chief, set up camp at Ojo-in temple. Early in the morning of the 5th, Shijo Takasuke first attacked Iimoriyama to hold back the White Flag Rebellion, while Masayuki tried to take Moronao's main camp. …
