A roller made of steel pipes that supports a conveyor belt for transportation. Also called a carrier, some are made of cast iron. The belt is often hollowed out in the center, and the rollers are placed in the hollow to make it easier for items to rest on. When transporting bagged or boxed items, the rollers are not hollowed out, but are placed flat. When using steel belts, they are also flat.
