…The only surviving piece of religious literature is the Zoroastrian holy book, the Avesta. It contains the Qasa (Psalms), written by Zoroaster himself, the oldest Iranian text, a complex verse that makes use of traditional Indo-European poetic techniques, which are shared with Homer's epics and the Rig Veda. There is no consensus on its date, with various theories ranging from the mid-2nd millennium BC to the 7th or 6th century BC.
