The Chronicles of Nobunaga

Japanese: 信長公記 - しんちょうこうき
The Chronicles of Nobunaga
Also read as "Nobunaga Kouki." Also known as "Azuchi-ki" or "Nobunaga-ki." A military chronicle from the Azuchi-Momoyama period. 16 volumes. Written by Ota Izuminokami Sukefusa (Ushiichi), who was the right-hand man of Oda Nobunaga and later Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Completed around 1600 (Keicho 5). The first volume records the political situation of the Oda clan, Owari, Mino and the surrounding areas during Nobunaga's childhood, and Nobunaga's career up until his visit to Kyoto in Eiroku 11 (1568). Volumes 1 to 15 are in chronological order and record Nobunaga's achievements from his visit to Kyoto until Tensho 10 (1582), with one volume per year. Although there are errors throughout, it is often used as a biographical historical source of Nobunaga and his retainers. There are several different copies. The "Nobunaga-ki" (15 volumes) included in the "Shiseki Shuran" is a rewrite (22 editions) of part of the "Nobunaga-koki" by Kose Hoan in 1611 (the 16th year of the Keicho era).
