Japanese: 越前法橋定慶 - えちぜんほっきょうじょうけい

...Kamakura period Kei school Buddhist sculptor. There are thought to have been three Buddhist sculptors with this name in the Kamakura period: Daibutsushi Hoshi Jokei, Higo Hogen Jokei, and Echizen Hokkyo Jokei. (1) Daibutsushi Hoshi Jokei Also known as a disciple of Kōkei, he created the Vimalakirti statue in the East Golden Hall of Kofuku-ji Temple in 1196 (Kenkyu 7), and the Bonten and Taishakuten statues in the same temple in 1202 (Kennin 2). There are also records that say he created the Kongō Rikishi statues of the same period during the Kenkyu period (1190-99), and we can see that he mainly produced statues at Kofuku-ji Temple and Kasugasha Shrine.
