The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is composed of IOC members. IOC members are elected at the IOC General Session. A distinctive feature of IOC members is that even if they are recommended by a national NOC, they are not representatives of that NOC, but are elected by the IOC itself and are considered to be the IOC's representatives for their respective countries and regions.
