〘 noun 〙 [1] The state of three things or matters stacked one on top of the other. The state of three levels. Also, the thing itself. Mikasane (layers). Mie (appearance). Three layers. Three tiers. "Three tiers of conflict", "Three tiers of suffering" *Shoku Nihongi - Hōki 1st year (770), April Bo-go "Let there be two great vows, and let the order be made to build one million three - story small pagodas" *Sasamegoto (around 1463-64), part 2 "It is written that the mind should not be two or three tiers." [2] A word referring to the pitch of a sound or a playing style. ① In the Buddhist music of chanting , the highest range of the range divided into three. It gets higher as Sho-jyū, Ni-jyū, and San-jyū. ② One of the tunes of the Heike Biwa. Used in beautiful and lyrical parts, it is the slowest in speed and has the highest range. It is the highlight of the Heike song. Mie ." ④ Shamisen as background music used in Kabuki. It is a shamisen piece without singing, and is rarely accompanied by musical instruments. For example, "Taimei-mie," which is used in the scene where Soga meets his wife. ※Kabuki: Tokikikyo Shusse Sojo (1808), Act 2: “‘You monster, I’ll go wherever you go,’ she exclaims, turning into a triplet , and chasing Shinzaemon into the other side.”

〘名〙[一] 物、事柄などが三つかさなっていること。三段階になっていること。また、そのもの。みかさね。みえ。三層。三段。「三重の衝突」「三重の苦しみ」※続日本紀‐宝亀元年(770)四月戊午「発弘願、令三重小塔一百万基」※ささめごと(1463‐64頃)下「心を二重三重になせにはあらずと書給へり」[二] 音の高さや、奏法にいう語。① 仏教音楽の声明(しょうみょう)で、音域を三つにわけた最高の高さの音域。初重、二重、三重と高くなる。② 平家琵琶の曲節の一つ。美しく詠嘆的なところに用い、速度はもっとも遅く、音域はもっとも高い。平曲中の聞かせどころとなる。三重のもっとも高い部分を三重の甲(かん)という。※太平記(14C後)二一「真都(しんいち)三重(ヂウ)の甲を上れば、覚一初重の乙に収(をさめ)て歌ひすましたりければ」③ 三味線楽の旋律型の一つ。浄瑠璃や長唄などで、一曲の最初や最後、または、場面の変わり目などに用いる。義太夫節には、大(おお)三重、キオイ三重、引取三重など、種類が多い。本来は高い音域の部分という意味からの名称。※浄瑠璃・曾根崎心中(1703)「すごすご帰る有様は 目も当て、られぬ 三重」④ 歌舞伎の下座音楽で用いる効果音楽としての三味線。唄は伴わない三味線曲で、まれに鳴物を伴う。曾我の対面の場に使う「対面三重」など。※歌舞伎・時桔梗出世請状(1808)二幕「『おのれ化け物、いづくまでも』と三重(さんヂウ)になり、新左衛門追ひ駈けて向うへ入る」

みつ‐がさね【三重】

〘名〙 杯・重箱・衣服などで、三つ重ねて一組としたもの。三枚重ね。三つ組。みえがさね。※栄花(1028‐92頃)若水「みつがさねの袴・扇まで、いみじくせさせ給へり」
