…Graduated from the Tokyo Higher Technical School, Department of Design, in 1916. In the Showa era, he developed a friendship with Yanagi Muneyoshi, and from around 1935, he participated in the Mingei Movement. He visited Okinawa many times to study Bingata and Akae, and incorporated their techniques to create katae-zome. Serizawa's katae-zome goes beyond mass-production stencil dyeing, and outstanding designs are created by using the front and back of the stencil and repeating the process. …
