Wäntig, H. (English spelling) WantigH

...This type of education is said to have started in Europe as early as the 16th century for the training of clergymen, but as a university teaching method, it is said to have been created by the German linguist Johann Gesner at the University of Göttingen. It is said to have been introduced to Japan by Heinrich Wäntig, who taught economics at the Imperial University of Tokyo from 1910. Today, this name is widely used to refer to study groups that go beyond the boundaries of universities and in which multiple lecturers each give a lecture on a unified theme.
