Huì yào (English spelling)

A book that compiles and classifies the history of the systems of a single generation in China. It is said to have begun in the late 8th century during the Tang Dynasty, when Su Bian compiled the systems of the nine dynasties from the beginning of the country to Emperor Dezong and compiled them into the 40-volume Tang Huiyao. Next, in 853 (the 7th year of the Great Intercession), Yang Shaofu and others compiled the 40-volume Xu Huiyao, but in 961 (the 2nd year of the Jianlong Intercession) at the beginning of the Song Dynasty, Wang Pu based them on these and compiled the 100-volume Tang Huiyao with 514 entries, which is the one that still survives today. The contents, ranging from the title of the emperor, the imperial system, and the temple system to the government system, taxation, and foreign countries, are roughly equivalent to the aspirations section of the official history, but are much more detailed and are a fundamental historical source for understanding the political system of the Tang Dynasty.

中国で，一代の制度の沿革消長を分類集成した書物。唐代，8世紀の終りに蘇冕（そべん）が国初から徳宗まで9朝の制度を集成して40巻の《唐会要》を作ったのが始まりとされる。ついで853年(大中7)，楊紹復らが《続会要》40巻を作ったが，宋初961年(建隆2)，王溥（おうふ）がそれらをふまえ，514の項目をたてた《唐会要》100巻を作り，これが現存している。帝号，皇室制度，廟制から官制，税制，外国に至るまで，内容はほぼ正史の志の部分に相当するが，ずっと詳細で，唐王朝の政治制度を知る根本史料となっている。
