Izushi Shrine

Japanese: 伊雑宮 - いぞうぐう

Located in the depths of Matoya Bay, Shima City, Mie Prefecture. Also called "Izawa", it is also written as Isanami-no-miya, Isanami-no-miya, or Isabu-no-miya. The deities enshrined are Amaterasu Omikami and Tamahashirayahime-no-mikoto. It is one of the auxiliary shrines of the Inner Shrine of Ise Jingu. It is identified with Awashima-no-izai-isen Shrine in the Engishiki. It is the Ichinomiya of Shima Province. As Shima Province is a land of food, the preparation of offerings was important, and Kobe, the headquarters of Ise Jingu, was located there. During the Edo period, shrine officials claimed that Izawa-no-miya was the "Isonomiya" mentioned in the article on the 25th year of Emperor Suinin in the "Nihon Shoki", and that it was the original shrine that was enshrined before the Inner Shrine was established. The rice planting festival held in June is famous.

三重県志摩市，的矢(まとや)湾の奥に鎮座。〈いざわ〉ともいい，伊佐波宮・伊射波宮・伊佐布宮とも記される。祭神は天照皇大御神(あまてらすすめおおみかみ)・玉柱屋姫命(たまはしらやひめのみこと)。伊勢神宮内宮の別宮の一。延喜式内の粟嶋坐伊射波神社の比定社。志摩(しま)国一宮。御食つ国である志摩国として贄(にえ)の調進が重視され，伊勢神宮の神戸が置かれていた。江戸期社人等は伊雑宮は《日本書紀》垂仁(すいにん)天皇25年条にある〈磯宮〉にあたり，内宮鎮座以前に祀られた元宮であると主張した。６月の御田植祭神事は有名。
