Every building has its own lifespan. As the materials used get older, they deteriorate and can no longer maintain their intended performance. Even if the materials still have sufficient performance, the building's purpose and lifestyle change, and the materials can no longer function adequately. When this happens, the building must be demolished and rebuilt. The work of demolishing a building is called demolition, and the method for doing so is called demolition construction. It is relatively easy to demolish wooden or steel-framed buildings. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
