Eleutherocaulis alte (English name)

Mollusca, Gastropoda, Aphaeoidea. Body length 5cm. Black, oblong body with weak dorsal swelling and a thin yellowish brown vertical stripe along the dorsal line. The whole body is wet with mucus and covered with fine granules. The underside has large, flat feet separated from the mantle by a deep groove. The head has two short antennae with eyes at the tips. No shell. Widely distributed from East Africa to the tropical regions of the Pacific Islands, it lives under fallen leaves in the forests of Okinawa and the Amami Islands. Nocturnal. It is an intermediate host for Angiostrongylus cantonensis.
