Maḍīq Tiran (English spelling)

...A strait connecting the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba. In Arabic, it is called the Strait of Tiran. In 1967, the strait was closed by Nasser, who was the president of the United Arab Republic at the time, which led to the outbreak of the Six-Day War.
