Marut

Japanese: Marut
Marut

In particular, the existence of a mythology centered on Indra (Taishakuten), who holds the highest status in the Rig-Veda, is evident, and in fact about a quarter of all hymns are dedicated to him. Indra was originally a god of thunder, and was compared to the Greek Zeus and the Nordic Thor, but in the Rig-Veda he is depicted as an ideal Aryan warrior who conquers the enemies of the Aryans with the help of the storm god Marut. In particular, his military exploits, in which he throws a vajra (a diamond) weapon made by the craftsman Tuvashtri to kill the evil dragon Vṛtra, who is blocking the water, are repeatedly praised.
