Oinochoe - Oinochoe (English spelling)

A type of Greek pottery. It means "wine pourer." It is a vessel for pouring wine from a krater into a cup. It has a circular or trefoil-shaped rim, a bulging body, and a large vertical handle that protrudes from the rim and reaches the neck or body. It was widely used from the early Greek period to the end of the period, and as such there is a great variety in its shape, but basically there are two types: one with a slightly narrow neck and wide shoulders, and one with a continuous curve from the neck to the body. There are also some variations, such as a body shaped like a human face or a thin, cylindrical shape like a lekythos.

ギリシア陶器の一種。「酒注ぎ」の意。クラテルからぶどう酒をくんで杯に注ぐための器。円形もしくは三葉形に開いた口縁部と膨らんだ胴部、それに口縁部から突き出て頸部(けいぶ)もしくは胴部に至る大きな垂直の把手(とって)をもつ。初期ギリシア時代から末期にかけて広く用いられており、それだけに器形も多様であるが、基本的には頸部がやや細くなり肩部が大きく広がっているものと、頸部から胴部まで一連の曲線を示すものの2種がある。このほか胴部が人面をかたどったもの、レキトスのように細い筒形のものなど若干の変形がある。
