Rh(a)eto‐Romance

Japanese: レト･ロマン語 - レトロマンご（英語表記）Rh(a)eto‐Romance

A Romance language spoken in the Alps and the Friuli Plain between Switzerland and Italy. It is also called a Rheto-Romanic language. The "Rheto" in "Rheto-Romanic" comes from the name of the Roman province of Raetia, which included the central part of the Alps. Since the Middle Ages, Rheto-Romanic has been divided into three dialect groups (each of which is further divided into several subdialects) between the two linguistic areas.

スイスとイタリアにまたがるアルプス山中およびフリウリ平野で話されている，ロマンス諸語(ロマンス語)の一つ。レト･ロマンス語ともいう。〈レト･ロマン語〉の〈レト〉はアルプス中央部を含むローマ帝国の属州名ラエティアRaetiaに由来する。ドイツ語とイタリア語の勢力に押され続けてきたレト･ロマン語は，中世以来，両言語圏を間に挟み，次の三つの方言群に分断されている(そのおのおのはさらにいくつかの下位方言に分かれる)。
