...In the 16th century, the content of the Meistersingers increased from religious to secular and entertainment elements such as banquet songs at taverns, and current affairs, historical and humorous songs were sung, but the singing style was consistently monophonic and unaccompanied. Representatives of the Meistersingers include the reformer Hans Folz (1435-1440-1513), who is praised as the founder of the revival, Leinhard Nunnenbeck (?-died after 1515), a contemporary of Folz and a flax weaver, and his outstanding disciple H. Sachs, who brought about the heyday of the Meistersingers. Sachs's melody in "Silver Tone" was particularly popular. ...
