Stable fire - Umayakaji

Rakugo. A moral story from the Analects. Osaki, a hairdresser whose husband and wife are constantly fighting, wants to know her husband's true feelings, so she tells the matchmaker. The matchmaker tells the story of Confucius, who lost his beloved white horse to fire in a stable fire, but ignored the horse and asked about the safety of his servants, which made the servants respect him deeply. He also tells the story of a man in a certain mansion in Kojimachi, who was so concerned about his wife's health that he didn't ask her how she was feeling when she slipped down the stairs while carrying a precious china bowl. He also told her that if her husband was so concerned about the china bowl when she broke it, she should break up with him. Osaki comes home and breaks the china. The husband is shocked and asks, "Were you hurt?" "Well, I'm grateful. You take such good care of my body," "But of course you do. If you don't hurt yourself, you'll be playing around and won't be able to drink from tomorrow onwards." This is an old Edo rakugo story, perfected by the 8th generation Katsura Bunraku after much research.
