Fauna Antiqua Sivalensis (English spelling)

...The Siwalik Group, which forms the main part of this hill range, is divided into three parts, from oldest to newest: Lower (Kamlial, Chinji), Middle (Nagri, Dok Patan), and Upper (Tatrot, Pinjore, Boulder Conglomerate).
[Siwalik Fauna]
This is the name given to the terrestrial vertebrate fossils found in the Siwalik Group, which became known worldwide in 1846-49 when British scientists H. Falconer and PT Cautley introduced the abundant proboscidean and artiodactyl fossils in their magnum opus Fauna Antiqua Sivalensis. In recent years, it has attracted attention for containing primate fossils such as Ramapithecus, Sivapithecus, and Gigantopithecus, which are closely related to the origin of mankind.
