Nasi script (Nasi script) - Nasi characters

Japanese: ナシ文字(納西文字) - ナシもじ

A script that has been used since ancient times by the Naxi people, also known as Mosuo script. There are two types: ideographic/pictographic (Tompa script) and phonetic (Koba script). Both are mainly used by shamans (a type of shaman, called Tompa) and cannot be read by the general public. The characters of Tompa script retain a highly pictographic character and are very similar to oracle bone script (oracle bone inscription). Among the world's scripts, it is a valuable one as a "living fossil" script, so to speak. It is entirely handwritten, written within a partition on the page, and has the distinctive feature of not arranging the words in the correct order.

ナシ族によって古くから使われていた文字で，モソ文字とも呼ばれる。表意･象形文字(トンパ文字)と表音文字(コバ(哥巴)文字)の2種類がある。ともに主として巫師(一種のシャーマン。トンパと呼ばれる)が使い，一般の人々には読めない。トンパ文字の字形はきわめて象形的な性格を保持していて，甲骨文字(甲骨文)などとよく似ている。世界の文字の中で，いわば〈生きた化石〉文字として貴重な存在である。すべて手書きで，紙面を仕切った枠の中に書き込むが，言葉の順序どおりには並べないという特徴がある。
