At the age of 14, he organized a family theater company and eventually adopted the stage name Stanislavski. Hoping to become a full-fledged actor, he invited famous directors and singers to be his teachers, and in 1888 he founded the Obshchestvo iskusstva i literatury (literary and artistic association).
