The world's oldest Paleolithic culture is located in northern Tanzania in East Africa, and is typified by the Olduvai site surveyed by Leakey and others. It was carried out by Australopithecus, and the culture began in East Africa and spread throughout Africa except Central Africa, and to Western Asia. The main stone tools were choppers, which were made by chipping one end of round or angular gravel to create a blade and used to chop or crush things, but there were also several other types of stone tools, including scrapers for cutting meat and scraping things, and their shapes had already differentiated according to their use.
