A full-length novel by British author Dickens. Published in 1838. It tells the story of an orphan named Oliver who, despite the cold winds of society and the evil people around him, lives a good and innocent life to the end. In this novel, the author expresses his bitter anger, wrapped in humor, at the contradictions in British society at the time, especially the poor relief system that had forgotten its warm heart for the poor and the weak. It has been made into a film many times, and the musical Oliver! (1960), composed by Lionel Bart, was also very popular.
