A Greek military writer who lived in Rome in the 2nd century. His Greek name was Aelian. He wrote Taktikē Theōria (De tactics) around 106, which provides a detailed explanation of Macedonian military tactics and training. This work had a significant influence on Byzantine, Islamic, and 16th-century European tactics.
