Oliver filter

Japanese: オリバーフィルター（英語表記）oliver filter

A type of vacuum rotary cylinder filter, originally a product name of the American company Dorr-Oliver, but nowadays it is often used to refer to this type of filter as a whole. A filter cloth is attached to the wall of a horizontal rotating cylinder, and part of the bottom part is immersed in a tank of raw liquid. Vacuum filtration is carried out in this part, and as the cylinder rotates, the cake rises above the liquid surface, where it is washed and ventilated, and finally the cake is scraped off as the product by a scraper. As a continuous filter that is easy to operate, it is widely used in places where the filtration pressure is not very high.

真空回転円筒型ろ過機の一種で，本来アメリカのDorr‐Oliver社の商品名であったが，現在はこの種のフィルター全体を指すことが多い。水平回転円筒の壁面にろ(濾)布をはり，その下部の一部を原液槽に浸し，この部分で真空ろ過を行いながら円筒の回転に伴って液面から出た後にケーキの洗浄，通気脱出を行い，最後にスクレーパーによってケーキを製品としてかきとるものである。操作も簡単な連続ろ過機として，あまりろ過圧力の高くないところで広く用いられる。
